My Wintertime Prayer Passage: Return to Nola

My Wintertime Prayer Passage: Return to Nola

New Orleans’ own Quint Davis the co-founder director mastermind of JazzFest has now officially invited the world to what he calls “the most important Jazzfest in history”. Personally, I’m very moved to help to raise up New Orleans in part. This year will be slightly scaled back with 6 weekend days of music: April 28, 29, 30 & May 5, 6 ,7, 2006 at the Fairgrounds (their permanent home). I’m going this year, which will be my 17th Jazzfest since 1988 (out of the last 19). Taken to heart, this year will surely take on the most special warmth & an upward spiraling positive vibe than all that I’ve attended so far. Jazzfest has come to become my favorite thing in life. Meaning for my being. As a sidebar, rumor mills are churning out tales of possible Jazzfest 06 headliners, spewing forth mega names like U2, the Rolling Stones & others. All we know for sure right now is Fats Domino (who’s on the official poster art as well) is playing to lead the charge (most names will be announced soon). All I know is I’ll be there more than anything for the New Orleans musicians, all residents, the cultural spirit & the city itself. The morale here is important to be as my deep connection to my fave city deepens. I’ve been going there, falling in love, loving the live music, the friendly people, the overall vibe (even living there at times) since I was 22. And nowhere has more profoundly & positively impacted me than this exotic, eccentric, electric loveland N’Awlins! Amen.

THE FREAK HAS BEEN SCENE 80 (spanning from 08/31/05 - 12/06/05)

There is always a mystique stirring romantic notion about the changing of the seasons. I think it has something to do with coolness turning on to hardening toward cold, as loose yielding to tight or taut if you will. As in my gaining tradition, here is my inspired opening quote (bringing back someone from our past): “One must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star.” ~Friedrich Nietzsche. A passage about a passage. Nice one, old boy! Enjoy away…

THE FREAK HAS BEEN SCENE 78
With the sweetnesses of summer upon us finally, we warmly receive our bliss & blessings of this my favorite season. Those blessings fortunately include many music adventures as well as curiosity driven soul enhancing mind & body excursions, which I’ll do my best to share here. Firstly, let’s start off with a freak chosen quote: “Common sense & a sense of humor are the same thing moving at different speeds. A sense of humor is just common sense, dancing.” –Clive James. Very well stated. Here we go…

March 28, 2005 * FHBS 77 (meets 78) * Missing Muses 77

March 28th, 2005

Well, that’s gonna wrap it up for the FHBS 77 & as usual we’ll pick up where we freakily left off (with deservingly Ratdog & the Combo so as to overlap my scene traipsing adventures) when the Freak returns chiming in for the Freak Has Been Scene 78 due out around the full moon later in June (the freak peak of wondrous summer). Until then, please keep on the sunny side holding hope & peace dearly as I do every freaking day of my life of constant blessings. I was born to freak naturally & share as I do I cannot get enough of all the goodness abounding everywhere I look. Music is not only our faithful healer, she is our call to action. This comes directly from your heart & goes & grows & flows to the the hearts of others. Listen…. ~FreaK
